GOLDEN GOA
(03 NIGHTS/ 04 DAYS - PUNE / GOA / MUMBAI)
|
|
|
DAY 01 - PUNE / GOA |
|
|
|
BY FLIGHT – IC 917 (1217 / 1405 HRS) |
|
Transfer to the airport in time to board your flight to
Goa.
“Golden Goa”
to the Portuguese during their hey-day in Asia, modern day
Goa is a quaint blend of the old and the new, of
Portuguese and Indian elements. It is also a land of
great variety - with its many churches and temples and a
deeply religious ambience which contrasts sharply with the
highly hedonistic spirit prevalent on her beaches.
Hindu temples are as much a
part of Goa as are Christian monuments. Large hotels and
resorts co-exist with small hotels, paying guest
accommodations and fancy restaurants with casual cafes |
 |
|
Goa is justifiably famous
for its beaches, which are magnificent and nothing short
of paradise. Some of them present a beautiful expanse of
up to 40 km. of uninterrupted soft white sand, fringed
with coconut palms along the whole of its length and
bounded by a warm, calm sea. The people of Goa are very
friendly and extremely happy-go-lucky. They are fond of
the good things in life and are certainly not caught up in
the rat race. Siesta is an important part of life in Goa
with shops downing their shutters from one to four and
most Goans
retiring for
afternoon snooze.
|
|
Festival time
in Goa leaves one with senses reeling in more ways than
can be imagined. The Goans celebrate any occasion with
great gusto. They actually have a festival that
celebrates the very idea of fun and fiesta! Nightlife in
Goa is exciting and there are many ways to liven up the
evening. The fun-loving Goans enjoy going out and it is
not unusual to find entire families out for a night of
merriment. In some localities, almost every third house
runs a bar-cum-restaurant. |
 |
|
Spend
time in Goa and go home with “Golden” memories! Meet and
greet assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel. The
day is free to relax and take in the lazy lifestyle of
this beautiful coastal region of India with its largely
Portuguese influence and traditions.
Overnight at hotel. |
|
|
DAY 02 - GOA |
|
|
After breakfast proceed for a half day tour
of Old Goa. Old Goa is only nine kilometers east of Panaji.
Founded in 1510 by Alfonso de Albuquerque as the old
capital, the place is replete with churches and more
churches. The
Se Cathedral, the Convent and Church of St.
Francis of Assisi, Professed House and Basilica of Bom
Jesus, the Church and Convent of St. Monica
are, probably, the more mentionable of the lot. |
 |
|
But the list of old
buildings, all reflecting the chapters of bygone times,
doesn’t quite and here. Take the local bus from Panaji and
chat up the friendly-faced Goan by your side. She his face
light up as he tells you what more is there in Old Goa. In
fact, he’ll probably tell you what all the books together
might not. Return to the hotel. The rest of the day is at
leisure.
Overnight is at the hotel.
