  Lutyen’s Delhi


New Delhi: The Imperial city planned for the British by Lutyens is set in parks and shaded avenues with wide boulevards that offer ever-changing perspectives of its Victorian past.  The majestic grandeur of Rajpath forms   fitting backdrop for the colorful, annual Republic Day Parade.  It is surrounded by the buildings of government such as Parliament House, President’s House and the Secretariat Buildings at one end and the Imperial India Gate Memorial at the other end.

Sightseeing of New Delhi will take you to visit Humayun’s Tomb, aptly called predecessor of Taj Mahal, built by Humayun’s widow. Qutab Minar, an11th century victory tower that rises to a height of 73 meters. Drive past the Government buildings, Rashtrapati Bhawan, India gate, and Parliament house.

 Classical Delhi

Old Delhi: The gracious Red Fort that looks out towards the Jama Masjid (the largest mosque in India) and the ever crowded, always busy Chandni Chowk of the erstwhile Mughal period are all waiting to be explored.Sightseeing of Old Delhi will take you to Visit Jama Mosque, an architectural extravaganza of Shahjehan, Red Fort, a fort that contains within it palaces and impressive public buildings, delicately carved inlaid and marbled Royal Chambers. Raj Ghat, where father of the nation was cremated.

  Museums Tour

This tour covers 3 of the more prominent museums of Delhi:

National Museum - a veritable treasure house of India’s glorious past, houses among its collections, the 5,000 year-old relics of the Indus Valley civilization, varied exotic paintings, old manuscripts and mural paintings from Buddhist shrines in Central Asia.

Crafts Museum - set amidst the re-created rustic surroundings of a typical Indian village. Every month craftsmen from different parts of rural India are given an opportunity to exhibit their skills and wares, here.

Rail Museum - home to the grand old “Iron Ladies” of India’s steam engine era.  A small toy train takes children around the museum. (Note: Museums are closed on Mondays and all public holidays.)
