LT 2 - CLASSICAL
DELHI |
|
|
Old Delhi
|
Delhi
comprises two halves of a stimulating and harmonious
unity. The old city wears graciously the uneradicated
impression of Shah Jahan, the Emperor of Mughal India who
built citadels.
Enclosed
within the tough, battle-scarred walls of the Red Fort are
the elegant Mughal Court chambers and audience halls.
The
Diwan-e-Aam, which
has a marble
canopy over the throne, adorned with multi-coloured
Pietra-Dura. |

|
The Diwan-e-Khas
is the hall of private audience. The gracious Red Fort that looks out towards the Jama Masjid (the largest mosque in India) and the ever
crowded, always busy Chandni Chowk of the erstwhile Mughal
period are all waiting to be explored. |
